Adventures:
- Rock Climbing
Rock Climbing
Our rock climbing adventure camp focuses on beginning to intermediate climbing techniques on world class stone. Venturers will meet up in our base camp to learn basic safety and rope work skills as well as gaining a basic understanding of climbing movement. As these skills are developed, we will begin to travel outside the camp. Initially this will be to Unlikely Wall, just south of Bloomington. Camp will close out with a two-day journey to Beattyville, Kentucky to climb in the Red River Gorge. Though this camp is geared towards the basics of climbing, some climbing experience will be helpful. Climbing, including the hike to and from a wall, is a strenuous activity. In climbing, as life, your best effort will reap the greatest rewards.
- Cycling
Cycling
Our cycling adventure will take place in beautiful and challenging Southern Indiana. This adventure will focus on cycling through intermediate terrain including challenging hills and long rides. Rides in this adventure can be as long as forty miles, including one multi-day cycling trip. Venturers interested in this adventure should have a moderate level of cycling experience. We will provide instruction and equipment, all you need to bring is experience and camping gear! As with all adventures, be prepared for strenuous exercise and an amazing time! Those interested in bringing their own equipment should contact us ahead of time. All equipment brought in to camp is subject to the inspection and approval of the adventure guide. All cycling equipment must meet state law requirements.
- Kodiak
Kodiak
Kodiak is a leadership training system based on the idea that a leader should work through those they lead to achieve goals. Your week at camp will be spent participating in a myriad of high adventure activities of your groups choosing; these high adventure activities integrate well with the leadership training portion of Kodiak. You'll learn through outdoor experiences using nature's examples of effective leadership.
Shortly after registration is closed, Venturers involved in the Kodiak course will begin to plan the activities for the week. This session will take place primarily via an online meeting. Venturers are welcome to attend the session at the main Council Office. Aside from the leadership training, all activities will be chosen by the group. Not only does this help facilitate the learning process, but it also makes sure you get to do what you are interested in!
