Advancement Camp

Our camp is designed to give Venturers the opportunity to complete the equipment and instruction intensive sections of advancement in the Venturing program. The core requirements and electives of Venturing were not designed to be completed in a single camping week. Venturers are encouraged to continue using the skills they learn at camp to help them complete advancement requirements after camp.   • Conservation

    Conservation

    We don't offer the completion of any requirements for the Conservation core. We do teach the planning, discipline, and organization it takes to carry out an appropriate project. We also offer the opportunity to work with a natural resources professional who can offer guidance towards your eventual conservation project.
  • First Aid

    First Aid

    Standard first aid is offered at the beginning of the week. The first aid core requirement will certify participants in Red Cross Basic First Aid.
  • Land Navigation

    Land Navigation

    Land navigation will be offered during the first session of Venturing Camp. Outside of the regular scheduled time participants will need to attend a Wednesday and Thursday evening session. During these sessions they will participate in night-time geocaching and complete a two and a half mile orienteering course.
  • Cooking

    Cooking

    Participants interested in working toward the Cooking core requirement will attend courses during the week. They will also cook portions of their own meals Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Preparation time and cooking time will be provided.
  • Leave No Trace

    Leave No Trace

    We offer basic Leave No Trace training as an hour session on Thursday and Friday.
  • Shooting Sports

    Shooting Sports

    Offered during the second session of Venturing camp, the shooting sports elective is an awesome opportunity for Venturers. The main focus of this elective will be our pistol range.
  • Equestrian

    Equestrian

    Our equestrian program is offered the second session of Venturing camp. Venturers interested in attending this session should have some basic knowledge of horseback riding. An additional charge may be required for the use of the horses.
  • Watercraft

    Watercraft

    All Venturers interested in the watercraft elective should be looking forward to significant time spent on the water. This elective is offered during the first Venturing camp session.
